The main idea behind this house was integrating the building into the existing natural surroundings. We focused on keeping all the trees on the site, planning the house relative to their positions. We used the benefits from the trees to make the house comfortable for living. The house plan was developed from traditional design in tropical zones yet with hints of contemporary architecture. For example, we elevated the ground floor providing ventilation and an extra area for the water system below.
Many walls are made of windows, giving a feeling of openness between the indoor and outdoor spaces. A private courtyard introduces aspects of nature into the design. The many windows also provide the benefit of natural light. The U-shape of the house is functional, maximizes the space, and allows the house to be situated in a natural environment.
